My Favorite Songs: “Confessions” and “U Got It Bad”

When coming up with my favorite male R&B artist I realized that I don’t listen to as many male artists as I do female, which is concerning considering I love R&B so much. I had to search high and low through my iTunes to even come up with a contender for my favorite.

Usher

The artist I feel like is the modern day king of R&B, in my opinion, is Usher. The reason I say this is because his music is known by an array of generations. Although my generation (Gen X) is probably going to be the last to really appreciate his hits, he has songs that are loved by those who enjoy traditional R&B and those who enjoy the current state of R&B.

Usher is an evolving artist who allows himself and his music to adapt to the current times. For example, one of his hit songs “Confessions”, released in 2004, was one of the best songs during that time period and still is considered a great throwback today. In 2014 he made a comeback in his hit single “Good Kisser” that kinda paved the way in that he is still a great artist now. While he is doing more producing and managing other artists, he still loves his craft and stays true to himself. He has never changed himself for the public eye and that is what I appreciate about him as an artist in an industry that changes others so drastically. All in all, Usher is my ride or die, in terms of male R&B artists. I know others may have a difference in opinion, but this is my blog after all.
