Before you argue as to who were/are the greatest female R&B groups, these are MY favorites and what I grew up listening to and love today. No intent for disrespect, but I needed to clear the air before I announce such jaw-dropping information. Okay, now that I have created a disclaimer here are my top 3 female R&B groups, in no particular order:
TLC

From “No Scrubs” to “Creep” TLC has a variety of hits that are still great in R&B today. TLC was created in 1991 in Atlanta, Georgia. The group name stands for it’s group members, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left eye” Lopes, and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. At the time the group was known for it’s funky style in their visual statements and how they utilized it within their music. Their 2nd album, “CrazySexyCool” released in 1994 went dumb, stupid and crazy all around the world.
Destiny’s Child

This female R&B group started in 1990 in Houston, Texas with its original members, Beyonce Knowles and La Tavia. Two years after the start of the group, Beyonce’s cousin, named Kelendria “Kelly” Rowland, joined the group with open arms. The group later went on the hit show Star Search and found their fourth member, LaToya Luckett in 1993. In 1997 they were offered their first contract with Columbia records and as the years went by many disputes and disagreements eventually caused the group to split and form the members many today as Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.
Xscape

Xscape formed in 1990 with its members, LaTocha, Tamika Scott, Kandi Burruss, and Tameka “Tiny” Lottie. Their debut album, “Hummin’ Comin At Cha” paved the way for their stardom. They made many attempts at getting their albums to reach platinum status and eventually disbanded.
All of the groups discussed, at some point and time decided to “break up” and occasionally perform today.
