Before I start this blog off I just have to state that March has felt like the longest month. Ever. And I know some of you can agree since we have been in quarantine I have felt like each day is a week. So since I really had nothing much to do besides Zoom University, Youtube, Netflix, and listen to more music than ever before, I finally have a male R&B artist of the month! Allow me to please introduce my April artist of the month…

Lucky Daye

Lucky Daye. Or as his family may call him David Brown (birth name). Since Rona hit pretty much the whole world I have been listening to music and discovering new artists. As said in the fun facts, above, He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana so he had to have learned some sort of soul, whether it’d be in music or the amazing food. I was recently watching a Youtube video where one of his songs, “Real Games”, played in the background and luckily the Youtuber put the song in the description because this blog would have been completely different. If you don’t know of his name you may know some of his more mainstream hits, “Roll Some Mo” and “Fade Away” which was in the soundtrack for the movie The Photograph. All in all David Brown’s story of how he became Lucky Daye is quite a journey. David grew up being an only with his mother in a religious cult. His mother both her and her son escaped the secular religious cult and that is when David discovered his love for R&B music. He began his career in the music industry as a songwriter. He wrote songs for Ne-Yo, Mary J, Blige, Boyz II Men, Ella Mai, and many more well known artists. In 2018 he made his debut as Lucky Daye and created songs featured in the HBO series, Insecure, and made an EP. His most recent work I am obsessed with is his first album, “Painted”. He even has a few concert events coming up, well they’re cancelled now, but hopefully they can be rebooked soon. Overall, there is no reason as to why you should not be listening to Lucky Daye, he has an inspiring backstory and is clearly gifted in songwriting.
