Sometimes I gotta ask myself how I became such a big R&B lover when I never really started out that way. When I was younger I usually just listened to what was trending and it was usually pop music like Ariana Grande or Justin Bieber. I still do love Ariana Grande’s music but I just recently found a love for the music and sound of R&B.

Throughout the whole world pretty much being in quarantine due to the massive pandemic social media has been a big way people have coped and dealt with staying at home. Many people have, unfortunately, been laid off or working remotely, while others may be suffering with the anxiety of the whole world. Musicians around the world have been able to connect with their fans through social media and lately people have been battling each other via Instagram Live.

This is what I would consider my type of oldies! I am a 1999 baby (so pretty much 2000) so the jams in the early 2000’s are jams I listen to today. So enter my vortex of my favorite R&B oldies as a Gen Z.

The “Quarantine With Me” playlist is meant to help take your mind away from the current pandemic going on around the world. I have seen many people make a playlist throughout their quarantines. Some were meant to be funny, others meant to be more healing, I think everyone’s is going to be completely different depending on what you are looking for.

Tell me why April felt like someone snapped their fingers and the month was over. I don’t know what it is about this quarantine, but some days go by so quickly and others feel as though there are 30 hours in a day. Overall I am so excited to announce this month’s artists of the month because her new album is coming out in a couple of days and I am stoked. Anyway, drum roll please for May’s Artist of the Month….
Hello all, glad to be back and entertain you in a time when we all need some stress relief from being in quarantine. Not sure if this top 3 will provide relaxation or more anxiety because this was a difficult one to put together. I wanted to create a top 3 of amazing female R&B artists that thrived in the 1990’s. This got difficult when trying not to include the same people I have mentioned in previous blogs, but since these artists are some of my favorites it is hard not to keep talking about them. To keep you from waiting, here are my top 3 female R&B artists of the 90’s (in no particular order).

Last but not least this is the playlist I think almost every person with feelings should have and probably already have in their collection. The “Teardrops On My Guitar” playlist is for when you are in your feels. Not just any feels, but the feels when your significant other just broke up with you… over text.
Before you argue as to who were/are the greatest female R&B groups, these are MY favorites and what I grew up listening to and love today. No intent for disrespect, but I needed to clear the air before I announce such jaw-dropping information. Okay, now that I have created a disclaimer here are my top 3 female R&B groups, in no particular order:

The “Gettin’ Ready” playlist is exactly what it sounds like. When you’re going out with your friends and ready to turn up or you need a pick me up before a nervous tinder date, this is the right playlist for you.

R&B throwbacks are typically the best, in my opinion. They remind you of memories, good or bad, and makes you think about what your generation considers a throwback.
